Kevin Behan
About Kevin Behan

For some behavioral problems a dog may need to take a break from the city and spend some a little in nature. The perfect place is Kevin Behan's farm and boarding kennel in Vermont.

If you don't know who Kevin is, he's been training dogs for nearly 50 years and is the originator of Natural Dog Training. He grew up on a farm in rural Connecticut immersed in a landscape of natural beauty and surrounded by dogs. Kevin's father trained dogs for the K-9 Corps in WWII. As a kid, Kevin worked in his father's kennel where he encountered every type of dog exhibiting every type of behavior. Consequently, he grew up without judgment, a quality he still retains: all dogs are good dogs, some just need a little help remembering that.

Kevin trained his first dog at age ten. As he matured, so did his ideas about his experiences and the behaviors he witnessed. By carefully watching the workings of nature, Kevin began to see that what made the modern dog adaptable and trainable was not the dominance hierarchy, as taught by his father, but the dog's ability to work as a cooperative group member in the hunt. Inventing his own unique methods, Kevin trained hundreds of police, protection, and border control dogs, as well as thousands of America's pets. He has become the nation's foremost expert on the rehabilitation of aggressive and problem dogs.
